Being ready for all of these emotions can aid us and our loved ones when death nears that we may be more empathetic and understanding of one another so that we may support one another in such difficult times. He also offered us the hope of resurrection and his presence to us that we may be comforted and find joy in such times. Christ felt pain, anger, fear, doubt, sadness, loneliness and judgments that we ourselves may experience as we, or our loved ones, approach death. It is important for us to be reminded that God came to us in Jesus Christ to live with us, share our suffering, our pain. And Lazarus, Christ serves by bringing out of the tomb, alive. Christ himself is not without the need for comfort and companionship as he calls out to God. Instead, he shows them what they needed to see with the miracle of raising Lazarus from the dead. Perhaps he knew his words would not be enough for them. To Mary, who does not immediately go out to meet Christ, perhaps not ready to face him, he does not give words of encouragement neither does he do so to the bystanders. He comforts Martha with the promise of resurrection and his loving presence. To the disciples, wary of returning to Bethany, he offers an explanation, so that they respond to him, in spite of their own fears: “Let us also go to die with him.” Willing to not only face the death of Lazarus, but potentially their own. Perhaps, in addition to the miracle of raising Lazarus from the dead, what this story offers us is the realization that Christ comes to us in our time of need and responds to each of us in a unique way, according to our own need. “Could not the one who opened the eyes of the blind man have done something so that this man would not have died?” While others had softened towards him upon seeing his tears: “See how he loved him.” Many of the Jews, who had previously threatened to stone Jesus were filled with the same harshness. Jesus himself is said to be “perturbed and deeply troubled” at his reception. Both Martha and Mary seem to hold it against Jesus that he had taken so long to get there. With suffering comes emotions that will most likely bring discomfort to one another. This story is one that reflects the complexity, struggle, sorrow and strain on relationships that can often come when a loved one enters the last stages of life. Whose needs are being met? Might Lazarus feel neglected? Might he prefer everyone was getting along? Or might he feel the same way as Martha and Mary? Or have we been Lazarus, the man who we do not hear directly from in this story? The story seems to be about everyone else and only secondarily about his illness and death. Have we ever felt like Jesus, showing up when we can but only to face frustration or blame for not having made it sooner? Coming to be present, to mourn, to comfort, to love, only to have it thrown back at us, being held accountable for the illness that was not of our doing. Here comes the big shot to save the day.” If he was a true friend he would have been here already. “I’m not family, I want to be supportive, but how? I just don’t know what to do or say.” Or when we see someone come who has not been around at all “oh, now she comes. #Lazarus story how to#Have we ever been the bystanders, those near the sick but not quite present to them? Not sure what to do, not sure how to help. Me being there will only make things worse.” Or, have we ever been like the disciples, who were hesitant to let Jesus leave for a place, where, last time he was there, he was rejected, harassed and nearly killed? Have we ever thought to ourselves “What good is it for me to go? No one wants me there. Have we ever been like Martha and Mary, tending to a sick loved one wondering where everyone else is? “Why have others not come to relieve us, to help care for our Lazarus? Do they not know he is sick and dying? Do they not care?” When I think about the many people in the story of Lazarus I can see myself in many of them and can see my loved ones there as well. This story is familiar to me, because in many ways I have experienced it in my own life with family and friends who were diagnosed with a terminal illness and were approaching the end of this life. In this Sunday’s Gospel we hear the story of a man named Lazarus, sick and dying.

But you can choose this option or the option of allowing any card to go on a blank spot. On the Solitaire Classic site, the default option is that only Kings can be placed in empty tableau piles. So this means you can either transfer an individual King card to the empty spot or a valid sequence of cards starting with a King to the empty spot (e.g. The classic rules for Klondike say that only Kings can be placed in empty tableau spots. When you are able to empty a tableau pile, you have a few options. Sometimes moves like these are the difference between winning and losing a game. So you move that red 3 onto the black 4 et voilà, you can now move that black 2 onto the red 3, thus uncovering whatever was underneath the black 2. But wait! There’s a shiny red 3 in one of the foundation piles. You’ve already been through the stock pile and you know that there’s no red 3 in sight. The black 2 has facedown cards underneath it, so obviously, it would be advantageous if you were able to move the black 2. You’ve got a black 4 and a black 2, both on the tableau. But assuming you’re playing a game that allows this type of move, let me give you a simple scenario where this move could come in handy. Basically, for those versions of the game, once a card is in one of the foundation piles, it is locked into place. However, some online games do not allow this. One additional strategy that is often overlooked is that you can strategically move cards from the foundation piles back to the tableau. If you have the option of using a card from the tableau or a card form the stock pile, you will almost always want to use the tableau card. The basic strategy in this classic card game is to uncover your turned over cards as soon as possible. Unlike the tableau, foundation piles are built in ascending order (i.e., Ace, 2, 3, etc) and by the same suit (so for example, only diamonds are allowed in one of the 4 foundation piles). As soon as you find an Ace, you immediately move it to a foundation pile. There are 4 foundation piles (initially empty), one for each suit of Ace. On the tableau, cards are arranged in descending order (meaning King, Queen, Jack, 10, etc) in alternating color (e.g. In Classic Solitaire, there are 2 main sets of rules: So now that everything is laid out on the game board appropriately, you can begin playing. Most games give you an unlimited number of redeals which is the default in this game, though you can configure the number of redeals in the game preferences. Also, in some versions of classic/klondike, the number of times you can go through the stock pile is limited. On the Classic Solitaire site, you can choose to deal 1 card at a time or 3, whatever you want. However, many (and possibly even most) online solitaire games let you deal 1 card at a time, making the game friendlier and easier to win. The traditional rules of classic solitaire generally have you deal 3 cards at a time from the stock, where only the top most card is playable at any given time. These cards will be used for the stock pile. If you are playing by hand, after you have placed the appropriate number of cards on the tableau piles, you will have cards left over. Of course, if you’re playing on the Classic Solitaire site, all of this is taken care of for you automatically when you start a new game. You repeat this process until you’ve placed your last face up card on the 7th tableau stack. On the next go round, you place a face-up card on tableau stack #2, then 5 more face down cards on the remaining stacks. For the tableau, begin by dealing the first card up then place 6 more cards face down (for a grand total of 7 stacks on the main playing area (the tableau)). If you are playing by hand, you start by shuffling your deck of cards fully, then start building the tableau. Initially, the foundation piles and the discard pile will be empty.

The Icarus Excel is one of a few E Ink ebook readers with a 9.7' display. But how can we know that without doing this experiment? We can therefore deduce that point1 and point2 each contain their own copy of a Point object, whereas pen1 and pen2 contain references to the same Pen object. For example: Point point1 = new Point(20, 30) Ĭonsole.WriteLine(point1.X) // 20 (does this surprise you?)Ĭonsole.WriteLine(pen1.Color) // Blue (or does this surprise you?)Īs you can see, both the Point and Pen objects were created the exact same way, but the value of point1 remained unchanged when a new X coordinate value was assigned to point2, whereas the value of pen1 was modified when a new color was assigned to pen2. That’s more exciting than the typical biography that plays the greatest hits of a celebrity’s life in formulaic fashion, and “Blonde” is consistently inventive as it toys with both tone and form. But ultimately, it’s a fantasia of fame, which increasingly becomes a hellscape. #Where was taking a shot of love filmed seriesIt touches on a series of actual, factual events as a road map, from her movies to her marriages. It’s as much a biopic of the film star as “ Elvis” is a biopic of Elvis Presley. What you have to understand from the start is that “Blonde” is an exploration of the idea of Marilyn Monroe. A lengthy, extreme close-up of a drugged-up Monroe fellating President Kennedy while he’s on the phone in a hotel room also feels gratuitous and is probably why the film has earned a rare NC-17 rating.ĭid any of this really happen? Maybe. My personal breaking point was a POV shot from inside Marilyn’s vagina as she was having a forced abortion performed on her. The craftsmanship on display presents another conundrum: “Blonde” is riveting, even mesmerizing, but eventually you’ll want to turn your eyes away as this lurid display becomes just too much. Maybe that’s the point, but it creates a maddening paradox: condemning the cruelty the superstar endured until her death at 36 while also reveling in it.Īnd yet writer/director Andrew Dominik’s film, based on the fictional novel by Joyce Carol Oates, remains technically impeccable throughout, even though it feels like an overlong odyssey at nearly three hours. “Blonde” abuses and exploits Marilyn Monroe all over again, the way so many men did over the cultural icon’s tragic, too-short life. In Revelation 3:1 Jesus “holds” the seven spirits of God. This is a depiction of the Trinity: grace and peace are given by the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, the three co-equal Persons of the Godhead. John says that “grace and peace” are coming to the churches from three sources: “him who is, and who was, and who is to come” (verse 4), “the seven spirits before the throne” (verse 4), and “Jesus Christ” (verse 5). The “seven spirits” cannot be seven angelic beings such as seraphim or cherubim because of the context of Revelation 1:4. The identity of “the seven spirits” is not explicit in the passage, but arriving at the proper interpretation is fairly straightforward. The Lamb had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth.” Revelation 5:6, “Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. In front of the throne, seven lamps were blazing. About 'Finding Continuity of Piecewise Functions' Finding Continuity of Piecewise Functions : Here we are going to how to find out the point of discontinuity for a piecewise function. It is capable of graphing between 2-6 functions, after which the user can zoom in/out on the graph and solve for a value. The Piecewise function has different definitions depending on the amount of input, i.e., a piecewise function behaves differently for different inputs. Ratio, Proportion and Percentages Puzzles What is a piecewise function Piecewise functions are functions that are defined by different formulas or functions for each interval. One thing using a graphing calculator is helpful for is solving systems of equations. Using a Graphing Calculator One tool used throughout Algebra, Trigonometry, and Calculus is a graphing calculator. Step 2: Identify the domain for which the first piece of our function is defined. Continuous functions in the reals need not be bounded or uniformly continuous, but are always piecewise bounded and piecewise uniformly continuous.
